Day Five

This is the scene as I leave at eight p.m.. The inside of the

two completed walls and the frame for the south wall on the subfloor.

I would like to have raised this wall too, but I ran out of time. My goal

is to have all four walls up tomorrow so I can put up some sort of

temporary roof before the rains come.

The west wall is up! In a somewhat harrowing experience,
I sided the wall before raising it. A little scary and very heavy. The siding
is over the window openings. I'll open them up when
time allows.

This is the frame for the west wall. Note the framing

for the two windows. Both windows are twelve light antiques

I found at a building salvage yard. The third matching

window will be located on the south facing wall beside a

set of french doors.

All the siding is on and the wall is up!

P.M.: Some rain today, but then it cleared up and Rick and I got a lot of work done. We saw a deer on the property this morning and heard several turkeys. Ricky did his duty and kept the worksite clear of all wild things.

A.M.: Misting and cooler this morning. The forecast calls for seven straight days of rain starting on Day Seven. Sounds Biblical. My only hope is that it will hold off long enough for me to put up the three other walls and affix a temporary roof. I'll frame the windows but I'll sheathe over them to keep the inside dry, leaving the installation for better weather. Rick and I are up early and on our way. Hopefully we'll have some pictures tonight.
